Gosh! it was simply GREAT to be photographing nature after a long while. I could sit all day just photographing them…maybe 2 days or more…it was INCREDIBLE! Wildlife was alwez in my heart right from my school days up to now, with my countless hours clocking watching Channel 556 (Animal Planet) on Astro. haha…and how i’d wished we had Nature Study back in school.

Taiping Zoo has improved since my last visit 7 years back. Not very sure about the funds going into maintenance but I’d say a good job – becoz it has improved conditions on some but still too many cages. Particularly wonderful is the otters, from the deplorable state to a spanking new home now. Having visited Singapore Zoo 2 months back – Taiping Zoo is still waaaay far back (maybe lack of funds) but nevertheless, very very much commendable – for Malaysian standards. Cages and the glass separation are dirty and some signs (particularly viper pit) are almost non-existant. These animals are being sacrificed for the knowledge of humans, so at least an identification and short writeup on the animal is most welcomed. Pleasently, i see good food being thrown in.

Anyway, enjoy the pics here. And I hope we learn more about our animal frens as the future looks bleak on most of the species, ie. rhinos, orangutans, tapir, etc.
