I contacted Penang-based rock band, Zero Origin, for a shoot. The band bass guitarist, Crissparco, luckily said yes to this inaugural band shoot for me and my mateys. The whole shoot was done in the night time in the sides and middle of the road of Church Street. We had to move our mounted-flashes, tripods, guitars and ourselves a lot of times to avoid road users ploughing thru our equipments or us! haha. The daunting task at hand was lighting all the band members in one picture, with only hard lights and home-made “soft boxes”, it was dang very difficult! If only I had bought the shoot-thru umbrella sooner, it will have made it easier to light up the faces with softer light whilst keeping the hard lights on the sides. well, lesson learned.

Anyway, we had a rocking time shooting this, even with the difficulties that was at hand… Thanks to the band members for trusting in us, and waiting for us to fumble with the lighting setup. haha. reli. We wish this rock band success in their forthcoming demo!! ROCK ON!!!!

  1. Good pictures. Do you have to tell them to pose? My husband is a drummer and I shoot a lot of their performance. Low lighting and motion blur gets tricky.

Many recommended you for wedding photography. Will you be free on Dec 31 2009 to shoot my wedding in Penang? I can’t find your email add so have to leave a message here for you. :)
