Bus accidents are an unwanted news that has come to be the norm in Malaysia. Yes, it is time something is done to curb this – after the most recent accident at Slim River, Perak that took 3 young lives in one tragic evening. It not only affects the unfortunate families but also the people who survived the ordeal. Everytime this happens, the news will come up with some big-shot saying this n that. A month later, it happens again. then the merry-go-round starts again. Also not accounted for are minor accidents, like what happened to me on a night journey that ended with the bus front left ripped apart and 5 people being hospitalised- thankfully none fatal. But their lives would b changed forever in just one night of recklessness beyond their control. Credit has to be given to the quick response of the PLUS highway, bomba and polis. Please, in the first place, prevention is better than cure.

  1. I think the mentality of the various parties have to change. Those ministers, bus companies, drivers really need to “see the light” that this is not kid’s play. But until something tragic happens to themselves, no one will care.

I’ve seen those bus drivers driving like maniacs on the highway; so it comes as no surprise that we have all these fatalities every now and then. It was only a matter of when, not if.
